01 — IC · MSc · PhD

Microscopy & image processing.

Let's see what happens inside the mosquito in three dimensions — from volume electron microscopy to deep learning on the resulting stacks.

What you will do
  • FIB-SEM and SBF-SEM on the CENABIO platform
  • Confocal and super-resolution microscopy
  • 3D segmentation and reconstruction in Fiji and napari
  • Deep learning models applied to imaging
Who we are looking for

Biology, Chemistry, Computing or related fields. You don't need to know how to program to start, but you should feel an affinity for it.

02 — IC · MSc · PhD

Biochemistry & molecular biology.

We want to understand how mosquitoes transmit disease — at the bench, from cell culture and RNAi to whole-insect infection in the insectary.

What you will do
  • Mosquito cell culture and infections
  • Molecular biology and transgenics
  • Metabolic and bioenergetic studies
  • Rearing Aedes and Anopheles in the insectary, and infections
Who we are looking for

Biology, biomedicine, pharmacy, chemistry or nutrition. A taste for the bench, discipline with protocol, and patience with the experiment that has to be repeated.

Omics & integrative analysis.

What do the data reveal about the mosquito? Large omics datasets, integrative analysis and geoclimatic modelling — turning data into new questions.

  • Analysis of large data packages
  • Geoclimatic modelling and analysis
Who we are looking for

Familiarity with computing weighs more than programming experience. If you like asking a dataset questions, you will fit.
